Valentines Day Getaway…
As promised, I am here with another blog post about our beautiful trip to Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Not only would I HIGHLY recommend this location to any family looking for a relaxing and low-key getaway, but I am actually planning another trip back next month!
Where we stayed:
My husband booked us a beautiful room at the Postcard Inn Beach Resort. The views from our room were absolutely breathtaking. The water was a perfect bright blue and the scenery was calming and relaxing. The resort had several pools and a direct entrance to the beach. There were also a variety of excellent restaurants on site, where we enjoyed a variety of foods including Italian, American, and of course my personal favorite… SEAFOOD. I also enjoyed the Starbucks that was located on site. It was great to wake up in the mornings and take a stroll along the beach to get my morning coffee before Payton woke up.
Things to Do:
Please remember that I traveled with a one-year-old, so we were slightly limited as far as the activities we wanted to partake in. Despite this fact, we were able to enjoy the variety of pools (one which had a great DJ and a swim up bar), as well as the beautiful beach. The best part about this resort for my family, was the fact that it was not a huge party scene, but just enough music and games for the day to be filled with fun. Payton greatly enjoyed the human sized connect four game as well as her first attempt at cornhole. We started each day at the complimentary breakfast set-up by the beach and would follow up with a few hours of play by the beach. Payton also enjoyed watching the older kids learn to fish, use the paddle boats, and play on the large trampolines set up in the ocean! Every afternoon we would try out a new restaurant for lunch and dinner. Dinner favorites included Ciao Hound, Lazy Days, and Ziggie and Mad Dogs!
Personal Experience:
Overall, I must say that this trip was great for my mental health, as well as my relationship. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day routine of work and school, and being a mom, that I often forget how important it is to just get away. Although I still had to get work done while I was away, it felt great to wake up and sit on my balcony to overlook the ocean as I drank my coffee and took in the salt water air. I also greatly enjoyed the extra hours of sleep I was able to get because Payton was so worn out from all the activities in the sun! If you’re wondering if you should take a getaway with you and your family, I am here to tell you… BOOK THAT TRIP. We have all been stressed for the last few months with the life changes the pandemic has brought to us. Just find a place that follows covid restrictions and be safe!
